The Latest Fashion Trends for Spring/Summer 2016

By | February 26, 2016

We’ve seen numerous distinctive styles in the Spring 2016 fashion runways but obviously, you can’t wear them all! So, we sought out to find common denominators among all these styles and have come up with a list of things you can wear so you’ll look trendy in time for the new season:

1. Bright Bags

When it comes to trends, fashion accessories are always at the top of everyone’s list. And this summer/spring, bright colored bags are all the rage. From totes, doctor’s, messenger and cross body bags – you’ll find them in several bright colors like sunflower yellow, lime green and vivid orange.

2. White Shirt with a Twist

A few years back, the white button down shirts were considered fashionable and we used to borrow one from our boyfriends. But this 2016, it’s back except that it doesn’t look anything like your guy’s shirt. It’s buttoned up, slashed and ruffled to make the wearer look sexy and cool at the same time.

3. Daytime Lingerie

This spring, it would seem like our underthings are not going to be so undercover anymore. Fashion shows are showing lingerie-inspired pieces that look very sexy. Just try not to overdo it, you don’t want to give the wrong impression.

4. Micro Pleats

Designers are changing silhouettes with pleats to add structure to dresses. Spring fashion has a take on the 1993 pleats collection of Issey Miyake. Micro Pleats are welcomed this season at the shows of Boss and Altuzarra to name a few.

5. Shiny Clothing

Spring 2016 fashion is leaning towards clothes that have high shine details – from shorts to cocktail dresses, it seems that many fashionistas will be wearing shimmery outfits come spring and summer.

6. Ruffles

Ruffles add a flirtatious vibe to your look and many runways are showing models in girlie but grown-up dresses and tops that look playful and contemporary at the same time.

7. Ties, Sashes and Belts

Here’s one fashion trend that will emphasize your hourglass figure. Designers are aiming to give more focus to the waist as evident in the appearance of ties, sashes and belts on nearly every outfit that was worn during the most recent shows.

8. Stripes

Stripes are a classic but there’s a new trend emerging this spring/summer – bold, attention-grabbing stripes.

9. Victorian-Inspired

Designers are bringing back high necklines, regal details, ruffled sleeves and conservative cuts from the Victorian era to the 21st century but of course, they now have a contemporary touch as well – short hemlines, sheer fabric, bold colors, and so on.

As you can see, there are plenty of trends to look forward to in the coming months. You can try each different style, mix and match a few, or even try other styles that aren’t included in our list. What you need to remember is that you don’t have to wear them all. Just go for what makes you comfortable. After all, being fashionable is also about dressing with confidence.
